act
Business Action for Africa catalyses business-to-business partnerships to drive on-the-ground action on business issues that matter for development, and development issues that matter for business.
We believe that by working together, businesses can achieve more – whether this means increasing the scale of their development impact, reducing the risk of a new business model, or strengthening their capacity to tackle a complex issue.
Governments, donors and civil society organisations are a vital part of businesses’ ability to deliver and vice versa.

Activities
Enterprise Development
In 2007, jointly led by Anglo American, Barclays, Rio Tinto, SABMiller, Shell Foundation and Unilever, Business Action for Africa initiated a project to exploring the scope for collective action on enterprise development – including, for example, joint business development services, vocational and technical skills training for young people, employee engagement, sharing of best practice and advocacy. The scoping work was managed by IBLF and supported by Accenture Development Partners. The report was used to inform internal policy decisions of the participating companies.
