AFFORD's mission is to expand and enhance the African diaspora’s contribution to Africa's development. Our focus is on harnessing African diaspora resources to help create, support, and sustain enterprises in target African countries that will provide jobs especially for young people in Africa through direct interaction in Africa and long-distance mentoring and support.

AFFORD has launched the MAHDREIA (Mobilising African Home and Diaspora resources for Enterprise in Africa) programme, in which a pool of diaspora resource investors, support enterprise development in Africa.

Diaspora resource pool has already visited Sierra Leone, and further missions are planned to Ghana, Nigeria & South Africa.  The focus of last year’s annual African Diaspora & Development Day (ad3) at University of East London, was on job-creation in Africa

AFFORD has also launched the RemitAid campaign for tax relief on remittances sent home for developmental purposes

AFFORD has developed the ROADS (Releasing Our African Diaspora Stories) to enable a more diverse understanding of the continent to emerge. ROADS supports screenings of African films and giving young people, and members of African diasporas the skills and tools to begin to tell their stories in imaginative and creative ways.
