Economic Commission For Africa (ECA) Governance Report
This report was initiated in order to gauge citizens’ feelings about the state of governance in Africa, to gather information on best practices and to identify the main requirements for capacity development in the region.
Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)
10 countries are now implementing EITI, 5 of which are in Africa. A further 10 have committed to implement, and 8 of these are in Africa.
Global Accountability Index - One World Trust 2006
The 2006 Global Accountability Index assesses thirty of the world's most powerful organisations from intergovernmental, corporate and non-governmental sectors. Corporates include Nestle, Wal-Mart, Anglo American and Microsoft.

International Business Leaders Forum: Business and Corruption programme
This was a two-year programme launched in 2002 with support of DfID and fund managers ISIS Asset Management. Working closely with Transparency International, the programme documented emerging international good practice and aimed to stimulate corporate-led anti-corruption initiatives.
International Chamber of Commerce (ICC): RStrengthened Anti-Corruption Code
In October 2005, the ICC issued a strengthened version if its Rules of Conduct to Combat Extortion and Bribery, including with respect to facilitation payments and the process for enabling staff to report violations.
Joint Working Group
The Joint Working Group was established under the aegis of the UK's All Party Parliamentary
Group on the Great Lakes Region of Africa (the APPG) to explore the scope for common
ground between businesses and NGOs on frameworks for business conduct in areas of
conflict and weak governance.
Mo Ibrahim Foundation
In 2006, Mo Ibrahim, a Sudanese-born billionaire, announced the creation of a $5 million prize for the sub-Saharan African president who demonstrates the greatest commitment to democracy and good governance during their time in office.
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development - Corruption programme
The OECD has addressed the supply of bribes with the 1997 Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Transactions and its 1996 recommendations against tax deductibility of bribes. It has also developed a tool for businesses in weak governance zones.
Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF), Ghana
PEF was established to support the growth of private enterprise. This includes dialogue with government on the issue of corruption.

Transparency International: Business Principles for Countering Bribery
Published in December 2002, this is an initiative facilitated by Transparency International and Social Accountability International and which has provided a framework for developing good business practice. In July 2005, FTSE4Good, the social responsibility investment index, published new draft anti-corruption criteria for consultation that draw on the Business Principles.

Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI)
This measures the perceived level of corruption in 163 countries. It draws on multiple expert opinion surveys that poll perceptions of public sector corruption and scores countries on a scale from zero to ten (with zero indicating high levels of perceived corruption and ten indicating low levels of perceived corruption).
Transparency International: Integrity Pacts
Integrity Pacts were designed to prevent corruption in public procurement and are based on an agreement between the government procurer and bidders.
UN Convention Against Corruption
The United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) creates the opportunity to develop a global language about corruption and a coherent implementation strategy.

World Economic Forum’s Partnership Against Corruption Initiative (PACI)
Initiated by CEOs, member companies commit to a set of PACI principles derived from Transparency International’s Business Principles for Countering Bribery, to adoption of a zero tolerance policy on bribery and development of an internal programme for implementing that policy.
